Reese Witherspoon to become a director? I can totally see that happening. In fact, I can see it pretty clearly right now, after the Inherent Vice actress told E! News that she is, indeed, planning the big move to the director’s chair.

Like pretty much all of Hollywood (well, half of it, anyway) Witherspoon was at Variety’s Power of Women Luncheon this weekend, and here’s what she had to say to E!

"I've actually been thinking about it. I'm actually working on a project right now."

That’s about as much detail as Witherspoon cared to reveal at the event, but suffice it to say that it’s all very, very exciting. The actress has been moving in behind the camera recently with her first production gig being the highly successful David Fincher mystery Gone Girl. Not a bad first producing gig, considering the movie is already being mentioned in Oscar talk for next year.

Next up, she produced and is starring in Wild, an adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's memoir, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail – that one is also getting Oscar buzz. Clearly, Ms Witherspoon is on a roll this year.
