Silverman, who plays a troubled mother in the new drama 'I Smile Back', finds the concept of motherhood rather daunting.
Comedian and actress Sarah Silverman says that she would like to have children, but that the idea of being a mother is hugely overwhelming to her.
“You know how some guys have a rubber neck about like hot girls' butts or whatever?” Silverman told E! Online in a short interview. “That's me with babies and toddlers and even like children and young teens. They fortify me. I love them.”
Silverman, 44, made the comments at the premiere of I Smile Back, a new independently-made drama movie in which she stars as a mom of two whose life and marriage deteriorate because of mental illness and addiction.

The New York native currently dates fellow actor Michael Sheen, 46, but has admitted that although she has no plans to marry, she may want to settle down. “He really classes me up and I just pull him right down to my level unfortunately for him,” she told People magazine in a separate interview.

But back on the subject of children, Silverman believes that her busy working life might prohibit her enjoyment of motherhood. “I just don't have a life conducive to this,” Silverman continued. “I could be a fun dad. I could do that. I could go on the road and come home and 'Daddy's home!' and give them everything I have and just love them to pieces when I'm home and have a career and a life.”
“I live in a little apartment. Sometimes I sit and [think], ‘So my guest room would be the baby's room and then I'd just buy it clothes and food’? I don't how people do it. It's so huge. But people do it. It's so much and there's no going back, it's a big decision. I don't know how people make it so cavalierly. They're human lives you're responsible for.”
