The scripted drama project, as yet untitled, will also feature Kevin Spacey as an executive producer.
Selena Gomez is set to work as an executive producer on an upcoming scripted drama series about her life, new reports have confirmed.
Entertainment Weekly was the first to break the news on Thursday evening (April 20th), confirming that the 23 year old pop star’s meteoric rise to stardom will be told in a new series for Lifetime. Other executive production credits will go to Kevin Spacey (who has worked behind the camera on his ‘House of Cards’ Netflix series) and Dana Brunetti (The Social Network) among others.
Selena Gomez's life is to be made into a Lifetime series - with the singer herself as exec-producer
It’s to be a pre-written drama series inspired by Gomez’s life, and is yet to be given an official title, according to Deadline. Though a writer hasn’t been attached to project yet, it’s rumoured to be told in a similar way to ‘Entourage’ – i.e. through the eyes of her friends and inner circle.
Many might wonder why, at such a young age, Gomez’s life is being chosen for a project like this. But despite the glitz and glamour we now associate with her, she’s experienced several hardships on her way to the top.

She was born to teenage parents who split up when she was five years old and, although she became a child actor at the age of 10, life was frequently hard for her as she grew up raised only by her mother.
She’s also done pretty much all her growing up under the intense glare of the media spotlight, suffered heartbreak in her ongoing on/off relationship with Justin Bieber, and has recently announced that she’s battled the disease lupus for a long time.
Janet Jackson, UFC star Rouda Rousey and tennis player Serena Williams are other female stars to have signed up for similar projects for Lifetime and its newly-created TV platform ‘The Fempire’.
