Simon Cowell's lawyers are attempting to have his name removed from the divorce papers filed by Andrew Silverman. The papers refer to an alleged adulterous relationship between Cowell and Silverman's wife, Lauren. According to sources close to the former friends, Lauren Silverman is pregnant with Cowell's child.

According to a source close to Lauren Silverman, Cowell was never good friends with her husband, as previous reports have suggested. On Cowell and Andrew Silverman's relationship, the source, speaking to the New York Daily News, said "the lawyers are working out an agreement to drop the adultery claims."

The source said "they were friends because of Lauren." The source continued to say "he wants Andrew out of his life. Andrew's acting out because he's embarrassed. He named Simon in the divorce papers when there was no need to. Hopefully by next week Simon will be out of this."

It does seem to be unfair to name Cowell as an adulterer when the couple's marriage has been on the rocks for some time, a source speaking to TMZ said: "their divorce has been in the works for a while."

Cowell has neither confirmed nor denied the rumours but his silence is telling. When questioned about his relationship with Silverman at the Television Critics Association Panel on Thursday, Cowell simply said "I have to keep this private."

However, he seems to be happy at the prospect of becoming a father. The source speaking to the Daily News said, on Cowell and Lauren Silverman's relationship: "they're totally in love. They speak multiple times a day. Simon was surprised by the news, but he's very excited about the baby. He wants to have a girl, but they won't know until the amniocentesis." The source continued by saying "they are very much an item and very happy, although things are very complicated."

However, other sources speaking to TMZ are suggesting Cowell and Lauren Silverman are facing difficulties in their relationship. Lauren signed a pre-nup when she married Andrew Silverman so it seems unlikely that she will be awarded a significant divorce settlement. The sources have said Lauren Silverman is 'nervous and doesn't want to upset Simon'. She is also concerned about who will be awarded custody of her and Andrew Silverman's 7 year old son.

The Silvermans have attempted to settle their differences by meeting at their Bridgehampton home on Thursday (1st August). However, as the three parties involved are choosing to remain silent, it is difficult to judge the state of affairs.
