Steve Carell is reportedly taking over the role Bruce Willis vacated in Woody Allen’s upcoming film.
Steve Carell is reportedly replacing Bruce Willis in Woody Allen’s next film. Sources speaking to a U.S. entertainment website have stated Carell is in talks for the role but his part has yet to be officially confirmed by the film’s producers.

It is uncertain exactly why Willis was forced to leave his role in Allen’s upcoming film but it appears the shooting schedule may have clashed with his commitment to Misery on Broadway. There are rumours suggesting there was some scandal behind the scenes with sources speaking to CinemaBlend claiming Willis was sacked for not being able to remember a line. However, Variety claims Willis was never on set so this turn of events appears unlikely.
Few details about the upcoming film, other than the extensive cast list, have been released. Allen is writing and directing the currently untitled film but it is without a distributor. Filming is currently underway in New Yok and Los Angeles but Allen and the cast are keeping the plot top secret. It is also uncertain when the film will be released.
The upcoming film stars Blake Lively, Parker Posey, Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeannie Berlin, Corey Stoll, Ken Stott, Anna Camp, Stephen Kunken, Sari Lennick and Paul Schneider.
The film is being executively produced by Ronald L. Chez, Adam B. Stern and Allan Teh. Letty Aronson, Steve Tenenbaum and Edward Walson also have producing credits.
Carell has previously appeared in another of Allen’s films, Melinda and Melinda in 2004.
Deadline first reported the news of Carell’s casting.
