The singer Susan Boyle is all set to make her movie debut, in a Christmas movie entitled The Christmas Candle. The 51 year-old former Britain’s Got Talent star will be starring in the period drama movie, which reportedly involves angels and a magic candle. The Daily Mail first unveiled the news.

The Scottish singer wowed Britain’s Got Talent’s audience (and indeed the celebrity judges) when she took to the stage, looking like something of an unlikely choice of contestant, but turning out to have an enviable set of pipes on her. Whether or not Boyle will manage to stun her detractors with an Oscar-worthy acting performance, however, remains to be seen. The Christmas Candle reportedly features Boyle as the wife of a church warden, living in the village of Gladbury, which is visited by an angel every 25 years. Samantha Barks (Les Miserables), Lesley Manville, Sylvester McCoy and John Hannah are all also scheduled to appear in the festive movie. Shooting will take place in the Cotswolds and Boyle is rumoured to have her very own song written for her, for a scene in the church.

Susan Boyle - the unassuming star will feature in her debut movie, a Christmas-themed period drama

Whilst you try to muster up enthusiasm for this Christmas flick, cast your minds back just a couple of months, when Twitter was awash with the hashtag #susanalbumparty, supposedly referring to Boyle’s album release bash, but misinterpreted by many to be something rather ruder.
