Taylor Swift – or some of her more mischievous backing dancers - appeared to reference her alleged feud with Katy Perry whilst performing on stage. Swift is currently on her 1989 tour and during her performance of ‘Bad Blood’ in Foxborough, Massachusetts, a toy shark appeared behind her on stage.

If it were any other artist, this would not have been picked up on but Swift is rumoured to be embroiled in an on-going feud with Perry. The shark is significant as Perry is well-known for bringing dancers, dressed as sharks, on stage during her performances. Most recently, whilst performing at the Super Bowl half-time show, Perry appeared with two shark dancers.

During Swift’s performance, the toy shark, held by one of the backing dancers, appears behind a clear screen Swift is singing in front of. The moment lasted only seconds but it was caught on camera by a member of the audience. Swift managed to laugh off the incident and continued with her performance.

Neither Swift nor Perry have ever directly alluded to their feud in interviews but it is widely thought Swift’s song ‘Bad Blood’ is about her falling out with Perry. Swift, in an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, confirmed the song lyrics were about her disagreement with another female artist but she made no direct reference to Perry.

"She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me," Swift said in the interview of her disagreement with an unnamed female artist (via NY Daily News).

"And I'm surprisingly non-confrontational — you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It's awkward, and I don't like it."
