Taylor Swift is in talks to star as Joni Mitchell in a biopic.

The 'Mean' hitmaker is reportedly on the shortlist of actresses considered to portray the singer-songwriter in a film adaptation of Sheila Weller's book 'Girls Like Us', Variety reports.

'Midnight In Paris' actress Alison Pill has also reportedly been in negotiations to portray Carole King in the movie, which will chronicle the careers of female music stars Joni, Carole and Carly Simon.

Katie Jacobs has been linked with a directing role and John Sayles is set to adapt the movie for the big screen.

It will not be Taylor's first film role after she recently lent her voice to the character of Audrey in forthcoming Dr. Seuss animated project 'The Lorax', which sees her star alongside Danny Devito, Zac Efron and Ed Helms.

In 2010, the 22-year-old beauty appeared in romantic-comedy 'Valentine's Day' as Felicia among a star-studded cast, which included Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Anne Hathaway, Taylor Lautner and Bradley Cooper.

The country singer also made a cameo appearance as herself alongside her friend Miley Cyrus in 2009 movie 'Hannah Montana: The Movie'.
