It becomes clear from this single that Mario Winans is certainly influencing lovers of soul. The Pirates have covered his successful track creating a more rootsy and British feel to the track. It’s the sisters who are singing this time featuring the sweet and sensual style of Shola Ama and Naila Boss getting gritty with the MCing. There’s

still the Fugee’s ‘Ready Or Not’ sample playing all the way through but there’s nice bongos and synth sounds making the track feel less glossy than the original version. It’s got a world feel to it and sounds a bit more experimental.

It’s still not a million miles from the original but I wonder whether lovers of Winans will like this single. It seems to me it may appeal to British soul lovers, some of the younger audiences and could gain chart success. Not bad.
