An adaptation for the latest novel by Dan Brown, 'Inferno', is coming to cinemas this Fall, three years after the book hit the shelves. Tom Hanks is back in his famous role as the ill-fated Harvard professor, this time with 'The Theory of Everything' star Felicity Jones.

It's the sequel to 2009's 'Angels & Demons'. Kind of. Dan Brown actually released 'Angels & Demons' in 2000 before 2003's 'The Da Vinci Code' in his book series, followed by 'The Lost Symbol' in 2009 and then 'Inferno'. That makes 'The Lost Symbol' the rightful sequel, but production on that movie was put on hold upon the release of the 'Inferno' book in 2013. Keeping up? Good.

'Inferno' sees Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) on another mystery-busting adventure, though this time he's not even sure what the mystery is yet. He wakes up with amnesia in a hosital in Florence and is tended to by a concerned doctor named Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones). His last memory is of being back at Harvard University where he teaches symbology, but before he can even try and piece together just how he ended up nearly 4,000 miles away across the globe let alone hospitalized, he's under attack. Again, as it happens. Now he's having to work out how to stop a crazed scientist from wiping out half the human race.

As well as this Dan Brown epic, Hanks will also appear in sci-fi thriller 'The Circle' with Emma Watson and Clint Eastwood's Chesley Sullenberger biopic 'Sully', both this year. Plus, there's 'Toy Story 4' to look forward to in 2017.

'Inferno' is set to be released in the US on October 28th 2016.
