Rock star Travis Barker has claimed getting sober is ''the best thing that's ever happened'' to him.
Travis Barker says getting sober is ''the best thing that's ever happened'' to him.
The 39-year-old rocker, who has son Landon, 12, and daughter Alabama, nine, with ex-wife Shanna Moakler, admits surviving an horrific plane crash at the height of his fame in 2008 inspired him to stop using drugs, including Xanax, Vicodin and OxyContin.
He said: ''I've done more drugs than I'd like to say and my memory sucks.''
Travis had to undergo 27 surgeries after the crash, which killed his assistant Chris Baker and bodyguard Che Still, and refuses to take pain medication afterwards in a bid to curb his addiction.
He told Us Weekly: ''I went from being a little pink abusing stuff to having a second chance at life. I didn't want to take advantage of it. Being sober is the best thing that's ever happened to me.
''My son is like, 'It's good that you're sober, Dad. It shows you can be a bona fide rock star and don't need to be a drug addict.''
Meanwhile, the Blink-182 drummer admits he had a huge crush on Kim Kardashian West when he was dating her then-best friend Paris Hilton in 2006.
He said: ''I have a crush on her and we were flirtatious but nothing happened. Kim was Paris' assistant - she got all of Paris' belonging together whenever we travelled. Mind you, I enjoyed hanging out with Paris, but I love curvy girls, and Kim was eye candy. She was so kind and polite, I just felt like being a perfect gentleman around her. It was a trip.''
