We caught up with Liam from Various Cruelties at The Cockpit in Leeds on the final night of their UK tour for a quick chat about the band's Tony Hoffer recorded debut album and what's install for 2012. Liam and Adam also performed an acoustic version of their new single Great Unknown.
Various Cruelties' most recent single, Great Unknown, was released on January 1st, 2012, through Hideout Recordings. Their debut single, Chemicals, was released in October 2011 to critical acclaim from 6Music and Radio 1. Throughout January 2012 the band played a number of shows throughout the UK.
Their debut album will be released in early spring of 2012 and was recorded with Tony Hoffer, who has worked with Foster The People; Beck and Goldfrapp.
Various Cruelties have come a long way, despite only forming just under twelve months ago. In November 2011, they had a coveted spot on Later with Jools Holland, where they performed alongside Lou Reed and Metallica and Steve Earle. They have also played with Villagers; Noah and the Whale; Funeral Party; Fixers; The Vaccines and Tribes at various gigs and festivals across the UK.
London born, Leeds raised frontman Liam O'Donnell was surrounded by music from a young age, often accompanying his mother to clubs where she performed old country and soul covers. Years later Liam made a name for himself on the music scene as a solo performer.
