With her eagerly anticipated second album ‘Different Kinds of Light’ set to drop later this Summer, London-based artist Jade Bird has unveiled an audio release for her brand new single ‘Now is the Time’.
It’s a positive country-flavoured anthem about sticking together through the hard times, with lyrics like the encouraging, fast-spoken “Never have I ever seen a better day to get up, doesn’t matter bout the weather / Now’s the time, to go and get it.”
“‘Now Is The Time’ is the only song to have me smiling and laughing listening to it back in RCA”, Bird said in a statement. “We had the Bee Gees in mind and soul, triple-tracking the vocals and putting a load of chorus on the guitar… It’s a big motivational anthem for someone I want to put my arms around or lift them in the darkest time.”
‘Now is the Time’ was written in a Mexico City hotel room and marks the fifth single to be released from the new album after ‘Headstart’, ‘Houdini’, ‘Open up the Heavens’ and, of course, the title track.
“Given that I wrote it mid-pandemic, the sentiment of getting to the backend of this hell is heavily felt now, when I play it live and do a two-step with my bass player!”
She released her self-titled debut album in 2019, topping the UK Americana and US Heatseekers charts, and reaching the top 10 in the UK Mainstream. It saw her win UK Independent Artist at the AIM Independent Music Awards. Earlier this year she dropped her ‘RCA Studio A Sessions’ EP.
Bird is set to embark on a UK tour in March 2022, kicking off at London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum, followed by dates in Cardiff, Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and Leeds.
'Different Kinds of Light' is set to be released on August 13th through Glassnote Records.
