Will Smith has become the latest in a long line of stars to back Idris Elba to be the next James Bond when current actor Daniel Craig retires from the role.
Will Smith is backing Idris Elba to be the next James Bond.
The 'Focus' actor believes the 'Luther' star is the sure favourite to take the part when Daniel Craig gives it up, insisting his race shouldn't impact his chances of getting the role.
He said: ''He would make a great Bond.
''I don't think it really matters that he would be the first black Bond, the prerequisite for Bonds has been to be a cool, talented, British actor.''
The 46-year-old star - who is married to actress Jada Pinkett Smith - continued to say he doesn't think there is anyone else who could possibly compete for the role, because the 42-year-old actor is so cool.
He told The Sun newspaper: ''At the moment there aren't many, if any, British actors that are cooler or more talented than Idris.''
Will isn't the first person to back the hunk to take the role, with former 007 Pierce Brosnan and musician Kanye West revealing they hoped Idris would be the next person to play the iconic secret agent.
The 'All Day' rapper said: ''James Bond is a role made for British actors and you won't find a British actor who has the talent of Idris. To be honest you won't find many anywhere who have his talent ... A black Bond would be visionary no doubt.''
Meanwhile, 47-year-old actor Daniel is currently shooting his fourth Bond movie, 'Spectre', which is scheduled to be released later this year.
