At least two Ohio government employees have been fired after they illegally accessed confidential records containing personal information about former American Idol Crystal Bowersox, The Columbus Dispatch and the Toledo Blade reported on Thursday. The newspapers reported that more than a half-dozen public employees had been involved in the illegal snooping, which allegedly took place at law-enforcement agencies, a hospital, a court, and the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. "Part of this whole American Idol thing and being thrown into a spotlight, people are going to get curious," Bowersox told the Blade. "But I don't think any of the people who participated in it would have wanted it to happen to them or their family members. That's disgusting." Jay Wright, 17-year employee of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles who was indicted on a felony charge of unauthorized use of State Property, said in a statement to investigators that he had accessed Bowersox's records because he was a fan and never attempted to sell it. "I am truly sorry and now I know better," he said.
