Beyoncé has been attached to the A Star Is Born Remade project since January 2011, but the 31 year-old issued a statement this week explaining that conflicting schedules have finally prompted her to pull out of the role.

In the statement statement to E! News, she said: 'I was looking forward to the production of A Star Is Born and the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood. For months we tried to coordinate our schedules to bring this remake to life but it was just not possible. Hopefully in the future we will get a chance to work together.” Now Mr. Eastwood will be looking for a new star, but reports suggest he’s not so panicked, and will do it in his own time. Early reports suggest that jazz musician Esperanza Spalding could take over the role. The upcoming 'A Star is Born' remake will be the fourth incarnation of the motion picture.

Whilst known primarily for the solo singing career that flourished after a successful stint in girl band Destiny’s Child, Beyonce can boast an impressive acting resume, too. She starred in the Oscar-nominated musical drama Dreamgirls alongside Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx and has enjoyed roles in The Pink Panther as well as playing Foxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers In Goldmember.
