LATEST: British singer Brian Harvey has finally allayed fears his recent accident was a third suicide attempt - by explaining how he came to be crushed under the wheels of his own car in May (05).

The former EAST 17 star was released from hospital last month (JUL05), seven weeks after receiving life-saving treatment for a broken leg, a shattered pelvis, severe abdominal injuries and fluid-filled lungs sustained in the freak accident.

But he denies reports he was trying to take his own life again, insisting he opened his Mercedes' door to be sick, but fell out of his seat and was pulled under the wheels as the car reversed backwards.

He says, "I had just been stuffing my face with a load of jacket potatoes and I felt sick, so I opened my car door to be sick.

"Instead of putting my foot on the brake, I put it on the accelerator and it flew back. I must have hit four or five parked cars.

"My stomach was pushed into my lungs, which collapsed, and I was told the heel of one of my feet was found up round the back of my head.

"If you were going to commit suicide you wouldn't do it like this."

But he admits he was treated in a rehabilitation centre for clinical depression in April (05) and tried to commit suicide twice before the accident - he was rushed to hospital in May (05) after collapsing at his east London home following an overdose of sleeping tablets.
