In her blog post, Cassie also wrote how she wanted to announce the news in order to show solidarity with other women who had battled, and continue to battle, with fertility issues. Cassie explained how she and Kelley had been trying to conceive for a number of years and had been told the chances of conceiving naturally were very slim (less than 1%). They had decided to look into other options when Cassie discovered she was pregnant in June.
Cassie also praised her husband for his continued support when they were faced with fertility issues.
‘We never stopped hoping though,’ Cassie wrote on the blog. ‘And I want to give a special shout out to my husband, Charles, for being the most incredible human. His love, support, passion for our marriage and our future children has never, EVER waivered, even when the frustration seemed insurmountable. I am so lucky to have a best friend and partner in life like him, and our child couldn’t have scored a better dad!’
Their baby is due in February.
Kelley has already responded to his fans’ well wishes, writing on Twitter within hours of the blog post’s publication. Kelly thanked them, writing ‘Thanks for all the love everyone. Cassie and I couldn’t be more fired up to have our first baby.’
Kelley and Cassie have been married for six years. They legally wed in Nashville in July 2009 before heading to the Bahamas a few days later with their family for another ceremony, as People reports.
