Colin Murray Announces Resignation From TalkSport After News Corp Buy-Out
Murray, a Liverpool F.C. fan, refuses to work with the same group as The Sun, the tabloid newspaper owned by News Corp.
Radio presenter Colin Murray has announced that he’s quitting his morning radio show on TalkSport, after its parent company was bought by News Corp, which also owns The Sun newspaper.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon (July 13th), the 39 year old Northern Irish presenter, who is a fan of Liverpool F.C., claimed that his position was “unsustainable” because of the “inevitable future working relationship” between TalkSport and The Sun, the tabloid which reported negatively on Liverpool fans’ role in the Hillsborough stadium disaster in 1989.
“While there are parts of News Corp that aren’t a problem, it is the inevitable future working relationship between TalkSport and the Sun that has made my position unsustainable,” he wrote in his post explaining his reasons for handing in his resignation.
