Fresh off the ‘Late Show With David Letterman’, Grohl and Hawkins headed downtown to join Perry Farrell and cover a Stones’ classic.
Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins provided a special treat for those in attendance at New York's McKittrick Hotel on Monday night (October 13th), joining Perry Farrell onstage to cover the Rolling Stones’ classic ‘Miss You’.

At the event which was to celebrate the release of Still Moving, a new book from renowned rock photographer Danny Clinch, Grohl, Hawkins and Farrell joined Clinch’s Tangiers Blues Band onstage for the impromptu performance.
Along with ‘Miss You’, the makeshift band also covered Bob Dylan’s ‘From a Buick 6’, which saw Jesse Malin take over the lead vocals from Grohl and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band provide backing horns.

Also in attendance at the event were Michael Stipe and Grohl’s former nemesis Courtney Love. Earlier in the night, Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell had helped cover another Stones classic, 'Sympathy for the Devil', on which he took lead vocals.

All this week the Foo Fighters have been performing on the Late Show With David Letterman as the 'house band'. They kicked off the week with a storming quadruple-guitar cover of Black Sabbath's War Pigs’, where they were joined by Zac Brown. While on Tuesday night their guests were Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson, who helped them play a rendition of 'Kick it Out’.

The band's new record, Sonic Highways, will be released on November 10th. Their eighth studio album, it twill feature appearances from the Eagles' Joe Walsh, Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen.
