Dave Grohl wants a woman to portray him in the Kurt Cobain biopic.

The Foo Fighters frontman thinks Shelly Duvall - who starred alongside Jack Nicholson in 'The Shining' - would be the perfect choice to play him in the story about his former Nirvana bandmate, who died in 1994.

He said: "I don't know about anyone else, but I'm crossing my fingers that Shelley Duvall plays me. Shelley Duvall in 'The Shining'... That is my face."

Grohl thinks Duvall would be great as him because he is a feminine man, and a woman portraying a male Rock Star worked before when Cate Blanchett took on the role of Bob Dylan in 'I'm Not There'.

He said: "I am probably the least manly dude that you have ever met in your life, so why not have Shelley Duvall play me?"

"Just put a beard on her. Cate Blanchett did it in the Dylan movie!"

Speaking about Cobain's suicide, Grohl described the shocking event as "probably the worst thing that has happened to me in my life. I remember the day after that I woke up and I was heartbroken that he was gone. I just felt like, 'OK, so I get to wake up today and have another day and he doesn't.' "
