Veteran British singer/actor David Essex will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award for his stellar career by charity bosses in the U.K. this weekend (20-21Oct12).

The Rock On hitmaker began his music career in the 1960s and went on to enjoy movie and stage show roles throughout the '70s and '80s while still regularly touring and releasing albums.

Essex will be handed children's charity Variety's Lifetime Achievement Award at a special ceremony in Manchester, England on Saturday (20Oct12).
