Sophia Grace Brownlee Lands 'Into The Woods' Role, Ellen Degeneres Favourite Cast As Little Red Riding Hood

Sophia Grace Brownlee has been cast in Into the Woods. She has landed the role of Little Red Riding Hood, in the film which is due to be released in 2014.

Brownlee first came to public attention after appearing on a YouTube video covering Nicki Minaj's 'Super Bass'. The 2011 video went viral of Brownlee, and her cousin Rosie McClelland, went viral and the two girls have since appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show. They have appeared on the talk show on multiple occasions as they have gained the approval of the crowd. 

The 10-year-old's representatives confirmed that she had landed her first film role to Playbill on Wednesday (7th August). The youngster is no stranger to acting as she has appeared in an episode of Sam & Cat, a show on the children's network Nickelodeon. 

Rehearsals for the film are currently being held in London and production is due to begin in September. Into the Woods is based on the 1987 book by James Lapine and the associated musical by Stephen Sondheim.

Into the Woods tells the story of a witch (played by Meryl Streep) who lures an assortment of classic fairy tale characters into the woods to teach them important lessons. Amongst these characters are Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), her Prince (Chris Pine) and her Stepmother (Christine Baranski); The Baker (James Corden) and his Wife (Emily Blunt and Rapunzel (Mackenzie Mauzy), amongst many others. 

Brownlee, cast as Little Red Riding Hood, will feature in the film opposite Johnny Depp who plays The Wolf. 

Into the Woods is due to be released in cinemas on December 25th 2014.
