Emma Stone had to be "sewn back into" her Oscars dress after she "busted" it dancing to 'I'm Just Ken'.
The 35-year-old screen star attended the 96th Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night (10.03.24) wearing a cream Louis Vuitton gown and she had to take to the stage to pick up her Best Actress prize with the back gaping open after she broke the zipper during Ryan Gosling's performance of his 'Barbie' song 'I'm Just Ken'.
Emma started her acceptance speech by turning around and pointing out the damage, telling the audience at the Dolby Theater: "My dress is broken. I think it happened during 'I'm Just Ken'."
After picking up her award for her role in 'Poor Things', Emma then had to be "sewn back into" the dress before stepping inside the press room for her backstage interviews.
During her time in front of journalists, Emma was asked for an update on the frock and she said: "They sewed me back in. Right when I came back they sewed me back in, which was wonderful.
"I genuinely think I busted it during 'I'm Just Ken'. I was so amazed by Ryan and what he was doing and that number just blew my mind and I was right there and I was going for it and you know, things happen."
The big win marked Emma's second Oscar seven years after winning the Best Actress gong for ' La La Land' and she saw off competition from Annette Bening ('Nyad'), Lily Gladstone ('Killers of the Flower Moon'), Sandra Huller ('Anatomy of a Fall'), and Carey Mulligan ('Maestro').
She said in her speech: "This is really overwhelming. My voice is also a little gone, whatever. The women on the stage, you are all incredible and the women in this category.
"Sandra, Annette, Carey, Lily, I share this with you. I'm in awe of you and it has been such an honour to do all this together and I hope we get to continue to do this together."
She went on to pay tribute to all who had worked on 'Poor Things', including director Yorgos Lanthimos. She said: "I don't know what I'm saying, oh my God. I'm totally ... The other night I was panicking as you can kind of see, happens a lot, that maybe something like this could happen and Yorgos said, 'Please take yourself out of it' and he was right because it's not about me, it's about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts, and that is the best part about making movies, it's all of us together and I am so deeply honoured to share this with every cast member, every crew member, every single person who poured their love and their care and their brilliance into the making of this film."
