DJ Peanut Butter Wolf set up independent LA label Stones Throw Records in 1996 and it has since released a string of critically acclaimed artists that have helped to shape the music industry. Current artists include the likes of 7 Days of Funk, Arabian Prince, The Stepkids and Madlib, while previous years have seen Mayer Hawthorne and Aloe Blacc as label artists. These artists may not be mainstream chart gold, but they have captured the imaginations of hip-hop, soul and R&B lovers everywhere since its inception.
'Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton' is a unique music documentary that has made it to our screens thanks to a Kickstarter project set up by director Jeff Broadway ('Tsua-Lei-Dan') alongside his co-writer Rob Bralver ('Cure for Pain: The Mark Sandman Story'). The project landed $38,801 in funding after initially asking for a pledge of $35,000 and it has become these guys' second project to have come to fruition because of a Kickstarter campaign. The documentary features interviews with Kanye West, A-Trak, Common, Tyler The Creator, Questlove, Mike D, Madlib, MF Doom and many more, plus previously unseen archive footage and tons of live concert footage. It is due for release some time in Spring 2014.
