It’s Thanksgiving season, a time for family, turkey and far too many cooking accidents, which is exactly what Food Network host Giada De Laurentiis went through during her special holiday broadcast on Saturday. The most unfortunate part? Giada was already done with the difficult part – the turkey was done and it was time to carve.

Giada de Laurentiis, Food Network 20 Year Anniversary
Even Giada de Laurentiis is only human.

Unfortunately for Giada, they don’t use dull knives on The Food Network and the sunny hostess accidentally sliced her finger instead of the bird. Not a big deal, you say? Keep in mind that this happened live on television. Not only that, but the cut was so severe that Giada had to get stitches.

There is even a video floating around the web of Giada post-stitches.

"She seemed to go pale and got very quiet putting pressure on it and whispering to Ina (Garten) that it was bad," a witness told RadarOnline. "She looked like she was about to faint."

Giada left to get stitches and returned about fifteen minutes later to soldier on with the broadcast. Meanwhile, the audience was entertained by de Laurentiis’ co-hosts, celebrity chefs Ina Garten, Alton Brown and Bobby Flay. After the whole incident was behind her, Giada made light of the mishap, even posting some instagram shots of the gruesome cut.

It’s a shame about her manicure, really.
