Renee Zellweger is due to star in 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy'.
Renée Zellweger is confirmed to return for a fourth 'Bridget Jones' movie.
The 54-year-old actress - who first played the producer in 2001's 'Bridget Jones Diary' - will lead the cast of 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' alongside returning co-stars Hugh Grant as Daniel Cleaver and Dame Emma Thompson as Dr. Rawlings.
In addition, franchise newcomers Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall will also appear in the film, which is based on Helen Fielding's 2013 novel of the same name and has a script written by the author herself.
'To Leslie' filmmaker Michael Morris will direct the movie , which will be released on Peacock in the US next Valentine's Day (14.02.25), and theatrically around the world.
The 'Mad About The Boy' novel sees Bridget now aged 51 and navigating life as a widow and mother of two following the death of her husband Mark Darcy - who was played in previous movies by Colin Firth - while also enjoying romance with a younger man.
Previously, it was reported that shooting for the film was expected to start in May.
An industry insider told the Mail On Sunday newspaper: “Bridget is back and is about to take over London. Filming is being mapped out already and all of the pre-production is in place.
“There was some uncertainty about whether it would get off the ground, but the movie is coming.
“Renée is excited about bringing Bridget back. She adores the character so much. 'Bridget Jones' fever is expected to sweep across London this spring.”
Renée had also been quizzed on whether she would want to return to the ‘Bridget Jones’ world, to which she emphasised she would love to make a fourth movie and teased that another instalment was in the works.
During an interview with Radio Times, she said: “I'm working on it and I really hope it will happen.
“Every film that gets made is a miracle — it's really difficult to make films happen and to make them good. But I'd love to see it on the screen.”
