Jennifer Aniston refuses to use TikTok because it’ll “ruin [her] life”.

The 55-year-old actress, who is best-known for playing Rachel Green in ‘Friends’, is determined to keep social media “at arm’s length”, citing that TikTok in particular can be damaging to your own and other people’s mental health.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, she said: “I don’t have TikTok, nor will I ever. I just won’t.

“I’m not gonna subscribe to one more thing that is gonna ruin my life or somebody else’s life.”

Jennifer warned social media platforms can waste “hours of your life” and admitted she sometimes finds herself plunge into “wormholes” of meaningless content for extended periods of time.

She continued: “It could suck you in and you’ve wasted hours of your life.

“I can’t believe sometimes when I found myself in an absolute wormhole of dog, puppy videos and rescue animals, and babies, and cats. That’s the stuff I enjoy. But then there’s some stuff online I just don’t wanna see.”

‘The Morning Show’ star emphasised she didn’t believe social media was “healthy” for society because we're not “designed” to use those platforms.

She explained: “[We are not] designed to take in the information at the speed and the rate that we do these days.

“I just don’t think it’s good for us. I don’t think it’s healthy.”

Jennifer then reflected on the detrimental effects platforms like Instagram and Snapchat can have on teenagers in particular, and argued they promote a “compare and despair” culture that could damage young people’s mental health.

She explained: “We’ve got good days. We’ve got bad days. We have good hair days. We’ve got s***y hair days. We’ve got good skin days, bad skin days. It’s a mixed bag.

“It’s also just so unrealistic to try to sell something that doesn’t feel authentic.”

The actress concluded the best way to use social media was to “just be who you are” online.
