Rocker John Fogerty has always taken time to sit his sons down and discuss brotherly love with them, so they don't wind up falling out like he and his late sibling Tom did.

The Fogerty boys, who were bandmates in Creedence Clearwater Revival, became estranged following the band's break-up and they never reconciled before Tom died in 1990 - and the Proud Mary singer has always been keen to make sure his boys always remain the best of friends.

He tells Spinner.com, "They're 53 weeks apart and I remember one time, we were at a beach and some other fella came walking up... and says, 'Wow, they're getting along so good with each other... I have a brother. We never talk to each other.' And so it was after that point I started talking to my boys.

"I said, 'You know, me and my brother didn't get along. I thought we were close and then, at some point, when we were growing up, we started not getting along with each other. I don't want that to happen to you guys.'

"All I can do is make them aware of it and hopefully help them overcome any difficulties, because the bond of brotherhood should be stronger than any other influence that you're gonna receive in life."

And opening up about his famous feud with his own brother, Fogerty admits he'll forgive Tom when he sees him on the other side, adding, "I've forgiven him in my heart, and when we meet at the point we do, he will know that, that I live here in this plane, in this sphere, and have for the past 10 years or so, with a heart of forgiveness, just because I can see a lot of stuff that... were just so petty or silly or insignificant, it just doesn't matter."
