The Mexican star will play the president's wife in Ingobernable (Ungovernable), the Internet streaming service's new Spanish-language programme.

Del Castillo's First Lady is described as a ruthless character who is capable of "creating a president, leaving a president and killing a president," according to a statement from Netflix bosses.

Ingobernable, slated for a 2016 release, marks the second Spanish-language programme for Netflix. Soccer comedy Club de Cuervos is set to debut next month (Aug15).
