Lily Collins, the British actress who plays Snow White in new movie 'Mirror Mirror', says she is already disappointing her young fans who believe she is the real Brothers Grimm creation. Collins, the daughter of multi-million selling musician Phil Collins, battles Julia Roberts' 'Evil Queen' in the movie out on Friday (March 30, 2012).
Speaking to the Chicago Sun-Times, Lily said she was already facing the consequences of her increasing Hollywood stock, saying, "A little girl came up to me the other day outside my gym with tears in her eyes. She said, 'Snow White, where are your dwarves? Why aren't you wearing a ball gown?". Quick thinking led the 23-year-old actress to fire back, "I said, 'Sweetie, Snow White is in her sweat pants today because Snow is going to the gym. Snow needs to do her cardio". 'Mirror Mirror' is one of two Snow White adaptions due out this year, the other being the bid-budget Snow White and the Huntsman starring Twilight actress Kristen Stewart. The movies present contrasting portrayals of the raven-haired character, though Collins insists she wanted to revamp the traditional image, saying, "I wanted her to be more real for young girls. This Snow White will get in the middle of a fight. She also has her own issues. She needs to find her own confidence."
As for her famous father - who has tried his hand at acting in the past - Collins says there was no pressure on her to go down the music route, saying, "My dad says, 'As long as you're happy and do what you're passionate about and do it for the right reasons, then you've succeeded".
