Today, Lorde has tried to prove to her fans that Photoshop perfection is not something to aspire to and that "flaws are ok" in selfies and photos. To illustrate her point, the singer posted two photos of herself performing at one concert on Twitter, one of which had been edited to perfection and the other showed off the young pop star's natural look.

"i find this curious - two photos from today, one edited so my skin is perfect and one real. remember flaws are ok :-)" the 17 year-old singer captioned the shot. She received an outpouring of support and gratitude from her fans, many of which are also teenagers themselves, who praised her for her realistic attitude towards her own image.

The shots were apparently taken at the Lollapalooza music festival, Santiago, Chile, where the 'Royals' singer has recently stopped by on her tour. Her stance on airbrushing has attracted a lot of attention over recent months, as magazines and adverts continue to make their cover stars look increasing inhuman and several celebrities, such as Lena Dunham, Brad Pitt and Keira Knightley, have taken a stance against such unattainable perfection.

But why did Lorde turn down a Katy Perry tour support slot?

Lorde herself used the word "unattainable" when describing fellow pop star Taylor Swift before the pair became friends. Using Twitter again, she criticised the singer for being "so flawless, and so unattainable" and posted an Instagram picture of herself after applying spot cream. She later admitted that she'd "c***ed up" and said that Swift "actually uses her other imperfections in an incredibly powerful and relatable way."
