Martin Scorsese doesn't want to go "too far" on TikTok.

The 81-year-old director has become an unlikely star on the social media platform as he features in his 24-year-old daughter Francesca's videos on topics such as slang terms and makeup tutorials although there is some ideas that he has had to turn down.

Quizzed on if he had said no to any concepts, Scorsese told People: "There were a few. I can't think of them right now, but (I'll say), 'I think it's going too far, honey.'

"But you know, she's a good actor and she's got a great sense of humour. And there's a good rapport and I play off that."

The 'Taxi Driver' filmmaker confessed that he had no idea what was going on when Francesca first got him involved in the videos.

Scorsese said: "I didn't know about TikTok.

"She said, 'Dad, just do this for a minute.' I did it, and the next thing I know, it's all over the world."

Scorsese revealed earlier this year that he was enjoying his new-found social media fame and described it as "kind of fun" compared to being in more formal celebrity settings.

He told the Guardian newspaper: "Apparently, I’ve been forced to engage with the TikToks. It’s kind of fun, actually. There’s something about suddenly breaking through all this artifice of being properly interviewed or being presented in certain events, and suddenly there we are at home with the dogs all over the floor, in pyjamas and people laughing."

Scorsese was almost 60 when he welcomed Francesca, his youngest daughter, to the world and has learned a lot from being a father in later life.

The 'Goodfellas' helmer said: "It’s a very different thing, having children at a late age. It teaches you a lot. It teaches you a great deal about love."
