Tyler Glenn has made a bold move, not just in his career, but in his personal life as well.

The Neon Trees singer has officially come out as gay for the first time ever.

Glenn made the revelation, while opening up about his sexuality, in a candid interview for the new issue of Rolling Stone.

"I've always felt like I'm an open book, and yet obviously I haven't been completely," the 30 year-old admitted, noting that he only came out to close friends and family last October (2013).

"I had my crushes on guys throughout high school, but it was never an overwhelming thing until my twenties," Glenn said of keeping is sexual preference a secret. "Then I'd be dating girls and in love with my straight friend and it was the worst feeling in the world."

Other high-profile names announcing their homosexuality in recent months inspired Tyler to do the same, especially NFL prospect Michael Sam.

"I really love all of the sports figures that are coming out recently," the 'Animals' singer told RS. "I appreciated [that] Michael Sam was like, 'I want to be able to go to the movies and hold hands with my boyfriend.' Even hearing him say 'boyfriend,' I was just like, 'That's cool.'"

Glenn, who was raised in the Mormon faith which is against homosexuality, has been overjoyed with the positive reaction to him coming out, and took to Twitter to show his appreciation.

"But all I can say right now is I'm the happiest lil weirdo I've been in my whole entire life," he tweeted on Monday (March 24th). "Thank you for the support and love. XT"

This issue of Rolling Stone hits newsstands on Friday March 28th.
