Nigella Lawson was denied entry to the US seemingly for admitting she had used cocaine in a court case last year. The 54-year-old allegedly attempted to board a plane to Los Angeles from Heathrow but was informed, once she was through security, that she would not be able to enter the US if she boarded the plane. The incident occurred at around 5am on Sunday morning (30th March).

Sources, speaking to a British tabloid, claimed Lawson was forced to return to the first class check in and wait for her baggage to be returned. The aforementioned source claimed Lawson "didn't seem to say much, but she did not look happy," adding "she could not get on the flight so she had to turn around and leave."

The incident, as reported by The Daily Mail, may be the result of Lawson admitting she had previously used cocaine whilst providing testimony in the court case against her, and former husband Charles Saatchi's, two personal assistants, sisters Elisabetta and Francesca Grillo. Lawson, during the trial, admitted to have taken cocaine "on maybe six occasions," but has denied being a habitual user claiming such allegations were "ridiculous."

The US government deny anyone with a drug conviction into their country. Lawson presumably assumed she was able to enter the country as she had not been charged or convicted of drug use or possession. Unfortunately for Lawson, her high profile and widely publicised admittance to using drugs may have been resulted in her being branded "inadmissible," as the Mail reports. However, such reports remain unconfirmed.

Lawson was due to be spending time in the US on holiday as she had informed her fans via Twitter, the night before the incident (29th March), she was "packing for her holiday." However, her holiday plans were evidently altered but this did not prevent the self-proclaimed domestic goddess from heading off somewhere else as she informed fans, on Monday (31st March), that she would be "offline for a while enjoying the ultimate: a holiday break with no signal."

Should reports regarding Lawson's ban prove true, she will be able to apply to have the ban lifted, according to Today. However, this may cause difficulties for Lawson as she is currently the judge on The Taste USA.
