'The Official Prince Tribute' will take place at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 13th.
Stevie Wonder is set to head up a star-studded tribute concert to the legendary Prince in St. Paul, Minnesota next month, that will also feature performances and appearances from people in the late star’s inner circle.
Billed as ‘The Official Prince Tribute’, the show was first announced back in early July, just over two months after Prince had died from an accidental overdose of painkillers, but details of the show have been slow to emerge since then.
In addition to R&B legend Wonder, the line-up also boasts Christina Aguilera, Chaka Khan, John Mayer, Tori Kelly, Anita Baker, Doug E. Fresh and Luke James.

“It's an all-star mix of classic and new artists, Prince-inspired as well as Prince family-type artists,” said the concert’s organiser L. Londell McMillan, who acted as Prince’s long-time attorney and who is helped to manage his estate. “Many fans and friends all over the world wanted to have the chance to honour, memorialize and celebrate this incredible man. We're thrilled we were able to make this happen.”
Christina Aguilera will also play at the tribute event
Many fans had been frustrated at the long wait for details, with many booking travel and accommodation before anything had been confirmed. McMillan said that the amount of willing participants had made organisation difficult.
“The family is extremely excited to provide an opportunity for the world to participate in the tribute for our brother Prince,” said the late singer’s sister Sharon Nelson in her own statement on Thursday.
Tickets for the event go on sale on Monday, September 19th at 10am CST.
