Celebrated sitar player Ravi Shankar will receive the prestigious Fellowship Award at an upcoming gala honouring outstanding Asians.
The Indian musician will be the star guest at The Asian Awards in London on Tuesday (18Oct11), and he's delighted with the prize.
The 91 year old says, "It is a great honour to receive this fellowship award and to continue working within the long and rich cultural history of India.
"Of course, the greatest reward and honour is having music be such a powerful force in my life. I thank the Asian Awards for their support and for their work in recognising the gifts of the global Asian community."
