Lord Richard Attenborough will be remembered at a private family funeral in the next week and a public memorial service later in the year (14).
The Gandhi director passed away on Sunday (24Aug14) at the age of 90 after several years of ill health, throwing the Hollywood community into mourning.
Attenborough's son Michael has now confirmed the family is planning two funerals for the Hollywood legend. He will be remembered at a private family service in the coming days and they will also host a public memorial in November (14).
He tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "We want it to be an entirely private affair. But in November, there'll be a memorial service for everyone."
Michael also reveals the entire family is supporting Attenborough's widow, Sheila Sim, who was living in the same nursing home as her husband in the years before his death.
He adds, "They spent 74 years together. That's several other people's two or three lifetimes. She is our main focus now."
