Fact: Filmmaker Roberto Orci has dropped out as executive producer of the forthcoming Power Rangers movie due to his directing commitments on the third installment of the Star Trek franchise reboot. J.J. Abrams has handed over the reins of the sci-fi series to the Mexican screenwriter and producer, who will make his directorial debut with the follow up to 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness.

Fact: The screenwriting duo behind the new Star Trek and Transformers franchises, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, have ended their movie partnership. No reason has been given for the split, although the pair, which also worked on the new The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and its sequel, is expected to continue working together on their Tv projects via their production company K/O Paper Products, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
