British Hip hop/ pop musician Rowdy Superstar has released his brand new single 'Look into the Light' taken from his upcoming debut album 'Battery' to be released on July 11th 2012.
The video for the track (directed by Ollie Evans who has done work for The Gossip, The Noisettes and The Klaxons) is low budget though conveys the message simply using editing tricks, a dancer and studio lighting to create a quirky, artistic effect. Rowdy's rap techniques mixed with his beautifully breathy vocals and simple musical melody in this track produced by Matthew Herbert epitomises the character of both early hip hop and 90s pop.
His new album mixes humour and light-heartedness with anger and frustration as it raises issues surrounding the future of our generation as well as discussing his own hardships and experiences.
Rowdy has recently been involved with German digital hardcore group Atari Teenage Riot (ATR), accompanying them on their European tour last year (2011) in Germany and Poland including a massive performance at the Coachella festival. He has also collaborated with a diverse range of artists including folktronica artist Patrick Wolf, experimental musician Micachu and also did a feature with Zero 7 after his demo collection online caught several people's attention.
