Ryan Reynolds was a "nervous mess" when he first met Hugh Jackman.

The 47-year-old actor recently starred alongside Hugh, 55, in 'Deadpool and Wolverine', and he's taken to social media to pay a glowing tribute to his showbiz pal, describing Hugh as the most "thoughtful, kind and classy" man he knows.

In a post on X, Ryan shared: "I met him in Sydney around 2007. Back then he was already a movie star and I walked onto set a supporting actor. Showing up midway through production isn’t too different to starting a new school. I was a nervous mess. Film sets can have a scary imbalance of power and I remember seeing how he treated every member of the crew with genuine respect and appreciation. He made a case that the term “filmmaker” isn’t just for people with their name on the poster.

"I don’t know anyone more thoughtful, kind and classy than this man. He’ll do anything for someone he loves. He’ll do anything for someone he just met.

"In Deadpool and Wolverine Hugh didn’t just make dreams come true for fans of Wolverine. He made MY dreams come true too. He is THE X-Man.

In July, Hugh revealed that he relished the challenge of getting in shape for 'Deadpool and Wolverine'.

The Hollywood star reprised the role of Wolverine for the Marvel movie, and Hugh revealed that he loved the challenge of transforming his physique.

He told PEOPLE: "I had got to the point, it must have been probably ten years ago, I was like, I'm not enjoying it. It was hurting. It was tough.

"But I've had a break, and I've been doing a lot of dance. I've been doing stage shows and arena shows. And so when I came back to it, it was really fun and I was thrilled."
