Hollywood star Sacha Baron Cohen has made himself an enemy of the town of Grimsby, the subject of his new film.
Sacha Baron Cohen has made himself an enemy of Grimsby in England.
The 43-year-old actor has visited various pubs in the town and has been filming scenes for his new comedy film - titled 'Grimsby' - but locals are incensed by his unflattering portrayal of the sea port.
Nev Carrick, landlord of the Corporation Arms, explained: ''Sacha Baron Cohen was in here for a couple of hours with other people.
''They were all sat there in the corner, just talking and watching.
''He was loving it. He told me he wanted to use the pub as the base in the film for his character's gang.
''He also asked for a receipt for his expenses - for a £3.50 pint. I told him we don't do receipts, but he needed one, so we had to write one on the back of a beer mat.''
However, Nev, 51, is horrified by how his hometown has been depicted, insisting it's unfair and inaccurate.
He told The Sun newspaper: ''They were being polite but we could see through them, we knew what they were going to do.
''For a successful comedian I would've thought he'd have come up with a more original joke than 'it's grim in Grimsby'. But by the looks of it he's made a whole film out of it.
''A lot of people in this town are unhappy about it, especially his fat, tattooed women characters. I don't know where he's seen them around here, I certainly haven't.''
'Grimsby' - which also stars Isla Fisher and Penelope Cruz - is set for release in July 2015.
