'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer Sinead O'connor has become a grandmother for the first time after her son's girlfriend gave birth.
Sinead O'connor has become a grandmother at the age of 48.
The 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer revealed on her Facebook page on Friday (17.07.15) that her son Jake and his girlfriend Lia had welcomed a baby boy.
When Lia went into labour she wrote: ''OMG! Am literally hours away from the greatest dream of my life coming true! #Granny!
''This for Lia and Jake and their little angel, who flew about with me in Vegas last week as I was singing the Foggy Dew. (sic)''
She later confirmed the birth of the little boy, her first grandchild.
Sinead announced the pregnancy earlier this year when she was forced to deny reports her 18-year-old daughter was expecting.
She wrote on Facebook: ''It's not my 18-year-old daughter who's having a baby! It's my 27-year-old son Jake and his beautiful girlfriend, Lia!
''Am so delighted!!! Always wanted to be a granny. In fact that's the only reason I had kids (joking). Baby will be arriving in July.''
Sinead made waves earlier this week when she went on a furious rant against Kim Kardashian.
She was horrified after discovering the 34-year-old reality star features on the front of the latest issue of the iconic music publication and hit out, saying it means the industry has ''officially died''.
In a post on Facebook she moaned: ''What is this **** (''I don't smile much because it causes wrinkles'') doing on the cover of Rolling Stone? Music has officially died. (sic)''
