JLS are ''sexier'' than ever on their new record.

The boy band are pioneering a slicker R&B sound on their fourth album, 'Evolution', taking their music back to its roots.

The boys - Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, J.B. Gill and Oritse Williams - told The Daily Star newspaper: ''With 'Evolution' you're getting the next level of JLS. It's getting sexier so we decided to open up more about intimacy and to talk about life in general.

''People are saying our single 'Hottest Girl in the World' is the first R&B song on mainstream radio since the Nineties, which is pretty big. From the very beginning our sound has had R&B in there.

''For this album it seemed right to take it back to the roots but not stay back there. We're passionate about being inspired by old artists without losing our identity.''

The band felt it was time to experiment with their sound and their record label, Epic, being taken over by Take That mastermind Colin Barlow gave them the opportunity they needed.

They explained: ''He felt it was time for us to make a change musically and suggested people such as Teddy Riley, Rodney Jerkins and Babyface. Colin is very ambitious like we are.

''We didn't want to sleep. We worked 24/7 on the best album we possibly could.''

Meanwhile JLS took to the decks last night (06.11.12) at Gilgamesh in London's Camden Town to perform a DJ set at the Lipsy London Love Launch party.

The 'She Makes Me Wanna' hitmakers thrilled the crowd - which included 'Made in Chelsea' stars Cheska Hull and Gabriella Ellis, and 'The Only Way is Essex' stars Mick Norcross and Chloe Sims - with their DJ skills, which saw them mix a number of artist's hits including Rihanna's 'We Found Love'.
