The outspoken star will be... speaking, to other stars!
Alec Baldwin is becoming as known for his extravagant actions and diva-like behavior as he is for his acting talents. So, in a move that can only be described as a masterstroke from, MSNBC, the 30 Rock star is getting his own talk show: Up Late With Alec Baldwin will start airing on Fridays at 10 p.m. in October.
"After two seasons of my WNYC podcast, I've developed a fondness for hosting a show that involved talking with smart, talented, and engaging people in every imaginable field," the actor said in a statement. "I'm grateful to MSNBC for helping me bring a similar show to television."
From being kicked off a plane for playing Words with Friends – swearing at crewmembers when he was told to turn his phone off – to his spat with Shia LeBeouf on the play Orphens, Baldwin has developed a cult following in the entertainment world. This is also partly to do with his fantastic acting work, but it’s also a lot to do with his funny confrontations.
"I've been talking with Alec for a while and can't wait to bring his personality and eclectic interests to MSNBC. He's got such passion for ideas and what's going on in the world. He's going to be a great addition to our line-up," said Phil Griffin, president of MSNBC.
It’s been a good couple months for Baldwin; the actor welcomed in a new baby with his wife Hilaria. “It's a second chance for me in a way,” Baldwin told People of his new daughter. “Everybody knows I had a pretty unpleasant custody battle for Ireland.”
