Amanda Bynes wants to attend fashion college after leaving rehab.

The troubled 'She's the Man' star has checked out of UCLA Medical Center in California, where she was being treated for schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder, and is being looked after by her parents at their house in Los Angeles.

Amanda - who was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold in July after she was starting a small fire on a driveway in Thousand Oaks - is now hoping to rebuild her life and is looking at colleges to study fashion design.

The family's attorney, Tamar Arminak told People magazine: ''Amanda and her entire family would like to thank everyone who's contacted them with good thoughts and wishes for Amanda's recovery. Amanda has completed her inpatient rehabilitation and she's feeling better every day.

''Despite the fact Amanda is no longer in a facility, her outpatient treatment is continuing. She's very happy to reestablish the loving relationship with her family that she once shared.''

According to Arminak, the 27-year-old actress is ''now looking at various colleges with the intention of majoring in fashion design. She's mentioned before she's interested in creating a clothing line.''

She previously collaborated with clothing chain Steve & Barry's in August 2007, with a collection called Dear, but the partnership ended when the company went bankrupt in 2009.

In May 2013, two months before being ordered treatment, the Nickelodeon channel favourite told In Touch: ''I love Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's clothing line, Elizabeth and James, and I love how Justin Bieber dresses. My line will be a mixture of sick styles, and it's going to be for everybody.''

Amanda's next court date is January 7, when she will be re-evaluated.
