THE Beach Boys have come under fire from fans after they were accused of miming at a high-profile concert in Australia on Saturday night (23Oct10).
The band, which includes founding member Mike Love, headlined the inaugural Gold Coast 600 concert in conjunction with V8 Supercars in Queensland, playing to more than 20,000 devotees.
But many are said to have left the Southport Parklands venue before the end of the show, with some accusing the band of lip-syncing their set.
One disgruntled concert-goer tells Sky News, "The Beach Boys were a fraud, they were miming everything. You could tell they weren't even singing, he (Love) was barely even moving."
But V8 Supercars Chief Operating Officer Shane Howard has defended the group's performance, saying, "They really put the crowd in a great frame of mind to end the night. They are rated among the top 12 bands in history and their music is recognised by all ages, all walks of life."
