The pop punk trio, Blink 182, from America will once again be taking the main stage for the Reading & Leeds Festival in 2014.

Zane Lowe made the announcement on his Radio 1 show on Tuesday (Dec 3rd).

The ‘All The Small Things’ singers first dawned the festival in 1999 and then hit the main stage as one of the favourite headline acts, three years ago in 2010.

The bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus spoke about the announcement to Radio 1’s Newsbeat, he said, "I'm stoked to play Reading and Leeds 2014. It's our fourth time playing the festivals and we're very honoured.”

"The new year will see us in the studio preparing new music, getting ready to rock the fine people of the UK. Prepare for the fury."

The festival’s organiser Melvin Benn also told the radio station, "They are one of those perpetual teenager bands, they're brilliant."

Benn also recalled the anticipation the trio brought when headlining in 2010, "The excitement around them was immense, the audience was just huge, the performance was fantastic," he said.

"We said when they came off stage in 2010 that we wanted them back within five years. It was one of them, where it was just about as easy as it gets to get it all sorted out."

Blink 182’s official twitter account also announced the good news, “UK we are coming back to see you at #reading2014 & #Leeds2014 2014,” the post read.

The festivals organisers also confirmed Jake Bugg, Disclosure, Of Mice & Men, Wilkinson and I Am Legion will be joining the bill for 2014.
