Steve Miller and Chicago are the other inductees, but Janet Jackson, The Smiths and Chic miss out.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its inductees for the class of 2016, with N.W.A., CHEAP TRICK, Deep Purple, Steve Miller and Chicago being honoured at the ceremony on April 8th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Following the significant box office success of the biopic movie Straight Outta Compton back in the summer, the pioneering hip-hop group N.W.A. has been recognised with an induction on the first year of its eligibility. To be considered, 25 years must have elapsed from the artist’s first official release.
N.W.A. is the fifth hip-hop act to be recognised by the Hall of Fame, after Grandmaster Flash, Run-DMC, Public Enemy and the Beastie Boys.
