Christie Brinkley has declared she wants to accept her wrinkles as she approaches her 70th birthday because she doesn't want to look 'waxy' and 'preserved'.
Christie Brinkley has vowed to accept her wrinkles as she approaches her 70th birthday.
The former model reaches the milestone on February 2 and she's admitted she wants to age gracefully because she doesn't like the idea of looking "waxy" and "preserved" like others who try to hold back the years with cosmetic treatments.
She told PEOPLE: "I want to accept certain wrinkles. That's the way I'm approaching ageing.
"Sometimes when people get older, and they overdo it, they can look waxy and - I don't know what the word is - preserved or something. I want a little life to show on my face, you know?"
She added of her plans for the big day: "Over the last five years, I thought, ‘I’m going to do a big blowout'. [But] every day I've been so busy. I haven’t really had a second to put a plan in place. And you know what? That’s absolutely fine with me.”"
In a post on Instagram, Christie explained she's planning to make the most of the final days of her sixties before embracing her new decade.
She wrote: "I still have a few days left of my Sexy Sixties before I dance into my Sensational Seventies on February 2nd. I already know it's going to be a spectacular year!
"I know because that's my plan and I'm old enough to know that it's up to me to make sure of it! I always used to say to my kids go out and make it a great day and now I'm saying to myself that I'm gonna make it a great year."
Christie concluded with some sage advice for younger fans, writing: "I’ve had a lot of close calls and I feel lucky and grateful to be here, I just can’t believe that I got here so FAST! It’s speeds by so my advice to all you young-ins out there … Love, laugh and LIVE IT UP!"
